We are incredibly proud of how much our studio has grown throughout our first ten years of being open! We began our first season with only a seven person competition team. Now, we have not only seen that competition team grow, but we have also seen our recreational program flourish, and we are constantly adding new classes and offerings to our studio! This helps us to offer something for every person to walk through our doors. However, though we have grown, we still maintain our same spirit of fun and encouragement. It is through this mission that we are able to help our students grow both as dancers and as people and to create as many wonderful memories along the way as possible!
Throughout our first few years, we have had many wonderful experiences both on and off the dance floor. We have had the opportunity to perform in the Carolina Voices Spring Performance for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, and we have also been recognized many times for our performances and sportsmanship throughout the east coast. Recently, we have made appearances on the "Good Day Charlotte" morning show, as well as during the halftime performance for the Charlotte Eagles soccer team. We also performed at the Walt Disney World Resort on July 17, 2017 at Disney Springs, and we are excited to return in the summer of 2022! (To watch that performance, click here!) In 2018, we were named the best dance studio in Stallings! In 2019, we were also named the Dance Group of the Year at the AMG Heritage Awards! Out of the many acknowledgements though, we are most proud that we have been recognized at multiple competitions for the kindness and support of our dancers and their families. It is wonderful to see the SDA spirit is noticed at these events, and we are thankful we get to experience it every day!
Though one of our main focuses as a studio is fun and encouragement, we are also strongly rooted in technique. Our incredible staff offers as many corrections as possible in order to ensure dancers are maintaining proper technique in all styles of dance. We are also constantly evolving in new methods of teaching this technique to make sure we are able to connect with each of our students. This allows us all to strengthen as dancers and to be the best that we can be. In addition to this technique, we teach our students to grow as performers and to become storytellers!
Our studio space is equipped with a wooden parquet floor, as well as marley panels. These are the styles of flooring that many dancers will come in contact with, whether at a dance competition or as they further their dance careers. We strive to provide an environment that will prepare dancers for those experiences and that is also safe for all who partake in our classes. We want for each person who enters our doors to feel at home!
We have also purchased land for the future site of an expanded studio! Having our own facility will have many advantages, including allowing us to be able to continue offering first class dance education at a reasonable price. We will also be able to custom design our facility for the exclusive use of our dancers and their families. The next few years will be an exciting time to be a storyteller!
We hope you can see that, at SDA, we not only love to dance, but we also love our SDA family! We treat these first ten years as a blessing, and we look forward to many more wonderful years to come. If you have any questions at all about our studio or class offerings, please do not hesitate to contact our studio. We would love to have you dancing with us!
Located in Stallings, North Carolina, Storytellers Dance Academy is focused on a fun and stress-free atmosphere in which people of all ages and skill levels can come to dance! We offer lessons in the styles of Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Contemporary, with class offerings ranging from weekly recreational programs to our award-winning competition team.
Our studio was founded by Robert Brower in November of 2012, and it was established to create an environment in which people can freely express themselves through dance. From the moment we opened, we knew that we always wanted to maintain a positive atmosphere not only for our dancers, but also for their families. We want for every person to feel welcome and at home upon entering our studio, and we believe that students are able to grow so much more when they are encouraged and feel comfortable. Though we work incredibly hard to push forward and grow as dancers, we also make sure that we have a whole lot of fun in the process. From SDA Proms to in-studio concerts with up-and-coming country artists, we are always looking for new ways to make the SDA experience unlike anything else.
